December already!

Well, since the last blog we've been to Elysia again, November 19th weekend and had another fabulous weekend, me doing the presentation, Darryl having a flying lesson and a nice birthday lunch at a great restaurant called "Leaves and Fishes".  Not only wonderful food and service but a delightful location on the water.
The night before we went away we saw "Jersey Boys" at the Theatre Royal, a night to remember, songs I'd loved for decades and terrific acting, dancing etc. How lucky we are in Sydney to get all this entertainment.
At Toastmasters we had the area contest and I won the Tall Tales category, which was a nice way to spend my birthday. Two days later was the Xmas party for all the staff at my medical practice, Bistro Avoca on Avoca Street,  Randwick. They have really got it down to fine art here, food to die for, wonderful service and ambience in a sophisticated but warm setting. Thanks to my boss Rob and his wife Adi for a great night out.
Darryl is in demand more and more with Six Degrees and as a solo artist, too many gigs to mention. Life seems to just get busier but that is very fruitful and we are blessed to be in work.

Golden Door again.

Just back from another glorious weekend at The Golden Door Elysia Retreat in the Hunter Valley. Beautiful weather and surroundings hard to beat anywhere in the world. We were there so I could do another presentation about Sexual Relationships and had a lively and interesting group of guests. It is funny, when you do talks like this, you always learn something of value too and meet people who impact on your life in a positive way.

This time was no exception and I met a lovely lady whom, out of the kindness of her heart has generously offered to help me improve my delivery and finesse the content of my talk. As she is an expert in the business, I felt that she was being really helpful and I am greatly indebted.

Darryl took the opportunity to go Cessnock on Monday morning for another flying lesson; he had a wonderful time in perfect flying conditions and came back glowing. It really sets you up for another working week when you get quality time off doing that which you love.

I bought a plaque for my office which reads :-

"Never get so busy making a living, that you forget to make a LIFE"

and that is what these weekends are all about, take time out to enjoy the fruits of your labours.
Too many people spend their young years trying to be successful and make a lot of money, then have to spend it all in their middle and old age trying to reclaim their health, which of course was neglected trying to "get ahead". We need to make a living of course but not at the expense of getting a life.
Enjoy your weekends, I wish you Good Health.
Until next time.

Positive Life, Joyful Sex: Spring.

Positive Life, Joyful Sex: Spring.

Spring.

September 12th, Spring is in the air, a beautiful weekend behind us and a hectic week ahead. The talk at the Randwick Library is on Wednesday so I have to prepare that, and  the next day I am the joker and have to deliver a seven minute speech at Toastmasters.
Last Wednesday there was a publishers' meeting at the Boulevarde Hotel in Sydney, about print on demand with Ingram in Melbourne, which means it will be quicker to get our books from Amazon. Good!
Last week was also the Area contest at The Woollahra Sailing Club, I had won at the club level so was representing Cranbrook club that day. The Gods were smiling on me and I won, but will be unable to go on to the District contest as we shall be in Africa on Safari.
More about Africa another day but now some thoughts about life in general.

Go through life looking for the opportunity in every change, get out of your comfort zone.
If we always do what we've always done, we'll never improve.
Assumption is the mother of all stuff-ups, and assume makes an ass out of you (u) and me(old but true).
Good judgement comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgement.
Never be afraid to try anything different, remember novices built the ark and professionals built the Titanic,
we all know what happened there.
A budget is telling your money where to go, rather than wondering where it went.

It is another sunny day and time to walk off the weekend indulgences at a fabulous French restaurant called Montparnasse in Randwick. It was a Xmas celebration for my husband's secretary and her husband, our office party! The street party will be December 12th, with "The Six Degrees" playing on our balcony and my son and daughter in law cooking up a storm for anyone who wants to join in.
Where did this year go?

Technology

At last I have an iphone! I had a similar one from Nokia but am so pleased with my new baby.
Time speeds by and we rely more and more on technology to help us keep up to date, even dinosaurs like me ( I take that back, now as a published author I am dynamite.)
There have been some nice things written about my book, on Jessica Rowe's blog, an online magazine called The Hoopla (thank you Jess) and in personal emails and phone messages, all very encouraging. One of the members of my Toastmaster's club, bought it on Kindle and brought her pad with her to show me at the last meeting. Many thanks Bar.
Another friend bought it from Amazon and it arrived by mail as I drove up to her door, what a coincidence as it took 2 weeks to get there. Thank you Karin. Sadly most people seem to just lend it around to their friends and relatives and that's no way to become a best seller.
My right hand lady, Pat Fulford has been busy emailing all the Radio, TV stations and newspapers with the press release (she is a genius with an Applemac, thanks Pat) and I have four speaking engagements coming up, so we are busy. Added to that I won first place in the Humorous Speech Contest at Toastmasters, so now it's on to the next round up against other clubs.
How I am supposed to fit in nursing, coaching, running a home, keeping the garden looking Ok and entertaining I don't know, the gym attendance has suffered but that was because of my bad cold really. I can't neglect my husband, he is my reason for living.
Congratulations to my son who just scored a top job, more about that later.
In reality it's the blog that gets forgotten, but I'll try to rectify that!

Quote from Marianne Williamson in her book "A Return To Love"

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Nelson Mandela quoted this in his inaugural speech in 1994 and is often mistakenly given credit for writing it. I love it so much I used it in  my book "From Dinosaur To Dynamite,The Secret Of Joyful Sex" on page 150.

Good Reactions

Fabulous week of favourable reactions to my book, thank you dear friends who bought a copy or the kindle version. Lovely birthday party for a talented singer/songwriter on Sunday, she sang one of her own compositions that I love and have her permission to share below. All rights of the owner of copyright in these written lyrics reserved.  No copying, public performance or broadcasting of these lyrics without consent of the author.

I'm a Vintage Model, Baby  C  Jennifer Lees 2010

I'm a vintage model, baby, built for comfort not for speed
If you want a slow and steady ride this model's what you need
I'm not some flashy sports coupe that's quick to reach the ton
I may be slow to get up steam, but this engine sure can run.
Refrain:
I'm a vintage model, baby,  I'll take you for a ride
I'm a vintage model, baby, slip inside.
I'm a vintage model, baby, my chassis' a little worn
My ducos' cracked and faded, my upholstery is torn
My crankshaft 's getting cranky, my differential's differential
But I'm a classic convertible with a lot of torque potential.
Refrain
I'm a vintage model, baby, my temperature gauge is broke
My valves they need re-boring, my engine needs some choke
My parts need lubricating, my ball joints are wearing out
My rear suspension's sagging and there is little doubt that
I'm a vintage model, baby, I'll take you for a ride
I'm a vintage model, baby, slip inside.
I'm a vintage model, baby, let me take you for a ride
Forget my rough exterior and gently slip inside
Rev the engine slowly and when its running smooth
Be gentle with the clutch as you slip into the groove.
Refrain
I'm a vintage model, baby, with a gear shift stuck in low
Radiator's overheating and the pressure's gonna blow!
Engage the clutch now, baby, make sure the brake is off!
Pump that gas now, baby, this old car is taking off!
Many thanks Jenny, you are a talented lady.

August already!

Another fabulous weekend at the Hunter valley, perfect weather, lovely people and a good session on Saturday night helping dispel some fears and worries about sex as we mature.
We love Elysia, custom built as a retreat, the accommodation, food, staff, everything is just beautiful.
Lisa Gooch from Savvi let me take some gadgets up to show everyone, beautifully crafted, tasteful  and elegant, no wonder they were very well received. See www.savvi.com.au
It gave me a chance to extol the virtues of Kegel exercises for men as well as ladies, because the exercises can avoid the embarrassment of premature ejaculation as well as stress incontinence.
I  had a wonderful email from a satisfied client of my coaching business, good news from KerriAnne and a request from the library for promotional material for my talk there next month. Life is very good right now.

Books

Well, what a busy girl I have been. 200 books arrived from USA (in dribs and drabs) and I have been busy sending them to my kind friends who have either contributed to the book's content directly, or have been helpful in many other wonderful ways.
It's a pity author purchases don't show up in the rankings because I'd like to give it away to all my friends and relatives. The only way it will be a best seller is if everyone buys through the internet or at a bookstore.
If it sells through a bookstore I receive $1.45! not sure if it's the same for Amazon, from my book webpage it's a huge royalty of $4.95! The link for that is http://sbpra.com/patriciamurray/ or

This weekend we are off to Elysia in the Hunter Valley for yet another presentation at the Golden Door Health Retreat. They have been fabulous in their support of the book and it will sell in their boutique and Wellness Centre.

The other good news came after the article about my publication appeared in the paper, which was seen by the Randwick Librarian. She asked me to give a talk at the library, said the people from the University of New South Wales would be there and would stock my book in their bookshop.Yippee.

News update July 11th 2011.

Great weekend in Lennox Head with Darryl's family, perfect sunny winter weather, surf competition and beautiful beach walks. Took copies of my book for all the in laws, hope the sex is not too graphic for them!
Got help with this blog from our clever nephew, who is a computer tech wizard, thanks Jake!
Decided to invest in a PR company to help promote the book, it seems to be consuming my life.

Saturday 18th

I must still be a dinosaur, I've done 3 or 4 more posts since the first one but they seem to have gone into the heavens! My book is now available on Amazon and through Barnes and Noble, so I hope all my friends will help to get the rankings up.
We have our plans finalised for the trip to Africa, more about that later.
